3 Eco Friendly Fluid Art Methods X Art Journey
Eco friendly fluid art methods emerged in late 2019/early 2020 out of a spontaneous experiment from not mixing the paint correctly, just kinda swirling it and deciding to paint with it anyway which turned out SICK. I found normal fluid art methods to be really wasteful of paint by using plastic cups which aren't necessary if you have a paint palette. sure you can achieve some amazing things with that method but there are other ones that are more environmentally friendly and produce more unique results.
Here are a few methods of eco friendly fluid art painting.
Method 1) Scoop the paint from the paint palette and blend out the edges
Method 2) Pour the colours from the bottle onto the page and shake or tilt the piece, you can swirl it about with a paintbrush too
Method 3) Drip pour from the palette and shake or tilt the piece
Below are a few more images of fluid art pieces i created using one of these methods
The scooping method is personally my favourite, I sometimes tilt and shake the piece on this method too but it can ruin it so i don't suggest doing it every time like I did with the other methods. The scooping method produces tiny details if you use a small brush or large areas of detail if you use a larger brush. Once dry I began to outline what shapes I saw which created unique therapeutic pieces that I wouldn't have been able to achieve if it wasn't for the scooping fluid art method. The other methods can produce some cool effects like the images above. I used the scooping method on the very first image which is a fluid art background which I later drew on and is a favourite piece of mine.
The colour combinations and details are something you wouldn't have thought to do on your own, it gets the creative juices flowing when you're feeling a bit stuck and is great for releasing those complex emotions by choosing colours that you're initially drawn to and swirling it however feels natural, you let out the emotions through this process and create something amazing with ease.
Have you ever tried fluid art?
And
What are some ways you can make your own art practice more eco friendly?
Till next time,
