Posca X Review
I discovered Posca paint pens fairly early in my art journey (I started in 2018 but discovered them in 2019) and it was an absolute game changer, I've never felt so inspired by an art product - I was excited to use the paint pens and was impressed by the ease of use and how good the quality of the product was like opacity was perfect it gave a professional finish, it really did level up my work.
The paint pens come in various sizes which I've experimented with and they also do lots of colour variations but my favourites are the metallic or the pastel colour set, I've recently seen they do the paint pens in glitter format too which i'm interested to try; The only down side to this is I've only seen them available in the 3M size which is a fairly small nib (I like the size of the nib), the acrylic doesn't flow for that long in comparison to the 5M size which is the size of a marker pen nib. Usually when the product is "running out" on the 5M size you can squeeze it on to a palette and either use a brush or dip the nip into it, but you can't seem to do that with the 3M size meaning there's loads of acrylic still in the paint pen that's un-accessible. A positive of the 3M size however is you can get more precise details or outlines of small things. My advice is to buy the 5M size if you're trying them for the first time, I wouldn't buy a set of the 3M size having known they don't last as long, this to me makes them ridiculously expensive if you buy a set (£30+) but if you buy 1 black 3M Posca paint pen individually for example it's fairly cheap around £4 on Amazon. It depends how long you want it to last/what you want to use it for. I prefer the 5M size because it's better value for money, it's a good size not too big which is important for my artwork because I outline almost everything.
Some of my favourite artwork produced by using Posca paint pens:
Have you ever tried Posca? If not, will you try Posca?
Let me know your thoughts :)
Till next time,
